SDH Systems

International Networks and Technology are responsible for the lifecycle management of SDH technology that is an integral part of Telstra's directly operated international submarine cable systems. As submarine cable systems are the result of an international tendering and bidding process, the SDH equipment employed in these cable systems are often not products supplied by Telstra's SDH PSA partner, Siemens.

For example the JASURAUS Cable System, which lands at Port Hedland in Western Australia, utilises Fujitsu SDH network elements and a Fujitsu network management system whilst the SMW3 Cable System, which lands in Perth in Western Australia, is based on Alcatel SDH network elements and an advanced globally distributed Alcatel network management system.
