APNG Cable System


APNG (Australia-Papua New Guinea) Cable is a 480 channel (8 supergroup) analogue cable system manufactured by STC and was laid in 1975. The cable terminates at Cairns Cable Station in Queensland and at Boroko Cable Station in PNG. The distance between the cable landing point at Holloways Beach and Cairns Cable Station is 11 km.

Cairns Cable Station, built in 1964 for Seacom Cable (out of service), is now unmanned and first in maintenance is provided by Cairns TMG. Third-level support is provided by International Networks and Technology.
